Having challenged myself to join that elite band of ‘plug-straight-in’ brigade on a couple of occasions, deliberately leaving anything that resembled a stomp box at home, I can tell you it take a few pedals out on a gig, so decided to do something... The SKB PS 55 pedalboard looks like the ultimate solution to every guitarist’s effects-pedal hell - a tangled jumble of cables and power supplies that at the end of the gig take up an extra half an hour to unscramble, especially if mic leads have... If not, you’ve probably either already invested in a pedalboard in order to avoid this nightmare, or you’re one of a tiny minority of players who doesn’t use pedals at all. In part two of this review, I’ll actually have an answer to that question, and how well the PS 55 performs in terms of practicability, noise/hum and all the other issues associated with powering up a dozen different pedals in close proximity.
